Maggie Cain, Will Kiley, and More to Star in Raven Theatre's GOOD BOYS AND TRUE; Cast Announced!

By:

Raven Theatre has announced the cast for their upcoming production of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Good Boys and True.

Set in the days before "sexting," a salacious video makes the rounds of an elite boy's school, affecting the lives of students, parents and teachers. Good Boys and True's spicy story of social class, sexual abuse and homosexuality exposes ugly implications about the ways in which a culture of privilege reveals its dark side.

Several newcomers to Raven will be making their way onto the intimate Raven West Stage for this production. Maggie Cain, who won raves last year for her performance as Amanda Wingfield in Mary Arrchie's The Glass Menagerie, will play Elizabeth, mother of the boy accused of wrongdoing. For the role of Brandon, the Ivy League-bound football team captain at the heart of the scandal, director Cody Estle has cast Will Kiley. Justin, Brandon's best friend, will be played by Derek Herman and Karl Potthoff has been cast as Coach Shea, Brandon's football coach. Rounding out the cast are Raven ensemble members Kelli Strickland as Maddie and Sophia Menendian as Cheryl.

The production will be directed by Cody Estle, director of last season's Raven hits Brighton Beach Memoirs and Boy Gets Girl. Jeff Kmiec, Nick Belley and Chris LaPorte will be designing sets, lights and sound respectively. Costumes will be designed by Izumi Inaba and props will be designed by Mary O'Dowd. Sara Carranza will stage manage, Cassandra Rose will serve as dramaturg and Alexander Lavelle will be assistant director.

Aguirre-Sacasa is the author of ten published plays, episodes of the TV series Glee and Big Love, the screenplay for the recent film remake of Stephen King's Carrie and is one of the bookwriters of the Broadway musical Spiderman: Turn on the Dark. His play Good Boys and True was given its world premiere at Steppenwolf Theatre in 2007 and enjoyed an off-Broadway run in New York in summer of 2008.

Good Boys and True will have previews March 11-14 at 8:00om and March 15 at 3:30 and 8:00pm. Regular performances begin Thursday March 20 and will run until May 3, 2014. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 3:30pm.

Preview ticket prices are $22 and regular performance tickets are $36. Tickets are $15 for students, teachers, and military personnel. There is a $5 discount for seniors. For tickets and information visit www.raventheatre.com or call 773-338-2177.
