LOVE & UNDERSTANDING to Make Chicago Debut at Redtwist Theatre, 3/1

By:

A Chicago Premiere, Love and Understanding by Joe Penhall, will open Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Redtwist Theatre, directed by Jaclynn Jutting.

Part of Redtwist's MORE RED series, LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING is the Chicago premiere of British playwright, Joe Penhall's clever and darkly funny drama about a young couple, both overworked doctors, who are forced to deal with the return of the irresponsible boyhood friend who never grew up, and now pops in to wreak havoc on their already stressed lives. Performs in rotating rep with the MAIN season show, HAPPY, by Robert Caisley, and DARK RED series show, 44 WAY TO END YOUR SEX LIFE.

PLAY Neal and Rachel are a young doctor couple, living on a treadmill of being overworked and on call at a London Hospital. Enter Richie, who uses clever manipulation to wrangle lodging, money, drugs...and Rachel, out from under Neal's nose, infecting the couple's already tenuous relationship.

Director Jaclynn Jutting is a 2011 graduate of the Northwestern University MFA Directing program under the leadership of Anna Shapiro. One of the goals of the MORE RED series is to provide immediate professional opportunities to talented young directors, designers, and actors. Jaclynn proposed this fine play, and we are thrilled to produce it as the Chicago premiere.
