Joan Curto Performs the Songs of Cole Porter at Davenport's, Now thru 7/20
Called "a cabaret icon" by NBC Chicago, After Dark Award-winning vocalist Joan Curto returns by popular demand to Chicago with her show celebrating the songs of Cole Porter. This show debuted in Chicago to sold-out audiences in February and garnered rave reviews. The show is appropriately titled Joan Curto Sings Cole Porter: From Major to Minor. Praised by the Chicago Tribune's noted jazz critic Howard Reich as "a seasoned interpreter who makes the most of every note,." Joan will offer Chicago audiences a glimpse into the extensive catalogue of Porter, a supreme master of sophisticated popular song.
Known for her thoughtful interpretations and powerful vocals, Joan will feature classic Porter tunes Night and Day, Just One of Those Things and My Heart Belongs to Daddy, as well as more obscure songs from one of the Great American Songbook's most prolific songwriters. Creating some of the cleverest, funniest, and most romantic songs ever written, Porter was unmatched as a tune-smith, and his Broadway musicals from Kiss Me Kate, Anything Goes, Silk Stockings andCan-Can, set the standards of style and wit to which today's composers and lyricists aspire.
