Gorilla Tango Theatre presents the world premiere of Ryan Brown's Mana and Her Underground Family, running Wednesdays in October at 9:30pm, at 1919 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago 60647. Tickets are $12; to purchase, call 773-598-4549 or visit gorillatango.com

Mana Hamlin is just like any other high school student with debilitating social anxiety, but with one major difference. She lives in a bomb shelter with a family that no one's ever seen before. But as her kind classmate Brad Pudding is about to find out, when you open up to Mana and her underground family, you open up to a plethora of forces you never expected. In this psycho-drama-romantic-dark-comedy, we explore, through Brad and Mana, the lines between who we think we are, and what's really going on deep beneath the surface.

Be sure to come out this October for this bizarre yet heartfelt, sincere yet funny premiere of an original work written by Ryan Brown and devised by the ensemble. Using sound, absurdity, and farce to wrestle with the inner workings that make us who we are, this show promises to entertain and give each audience member strength as they go back out into the world. This show is a great choice for any Halloween-season enthusiast looking for new works that blend familiar genres into one hell of a Frankenstein-ish show.
