Fox Valley Rep to Present CLOSE TO YOU: MUSIC OF THE CARPENTERS, 5/31
Fox Valley Repertory brings the classics of The Carpenters to the Pheasant Run Mainstage as they present Close To You: The Music of The Carpenters for two performances on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 4pm and 8pm (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; 630-584-6342).
Considered one of the best vocalists of all time, Karen Carpenter captured the attention of a generation with her unabashedly catchy pop music. The Carpenters' beautiful, memorable love songs topped the Billboard charts with more than a dozen number one hits. Close to You: The Music of The Carpenters brings these classics back to the stage with spot-on renditions performed by singer Lisa Rock and her 6-piece band.
Lisa Rock has arranged a 6-piece band, complete with back-up singers, and together they are dedicated to creating a Carpenters experience like no other. Rock's amazing four octave range allows her to sing the hits like "We've Only Just Begun" and "Rainy Days and Mondays" in their original key, keeping the songs genuine and more recognizable for the audience. "When she hits the lower range of her marvelous voice," notes critic Alan Bresloff, "if you close your eyes, you can see Karen Carpenter's face."
Close to You: The Music of The Carpenters performs on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 4pm and 8pm. Tickets are $32. Group rates and overnight packages are available.
Ample free parking and valet services are available at Pheasant Run Resort. The resort and theater is wheelchair accessible and hearing amplification systems are available. Ask the box office about dinner and overnight packages. Group rates are available by calling 630-770-7699. Pheasant Run Resort is located at 4051 E. Main St. in St. Charles, IL.
