Fox Valley Rep Opens 2014 Season With NUNSENSE, Now thru 3/9

By:

Fox Valley Repertory opens their 2014 theater series with Dan Goggin's international hit like nun-other, Nunsense. Directed and choreographed by Brigitte Ditmars with music direction by Jeffrey Poindexter, performances will take place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage tonight, January 16 - March 9, 2014 (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; box office 630-584-6342).

Nunsense will preview tonight, January 16 through Friday, January 24, 2014. The show will open Saturday evening, January 25, 2014 and continue through Sunday, March 9, 2014.

Tickets are priced at $32 on Fridays (and limited Thursday performances), and at $42 on Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner packages, group discounts and overnight rates are also available.

When the five Sisters of Hoboken discover that 52 fellow nuns were accidentally poisoned by their cook, Mother Superior desperately -and hilariously- stages a variety show to raise funds for the burials. Here you'll meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of the Novices; streetwise Sister Robert Anne; wannabe-ballerina Sister Mary Leo, and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia. Featuring tap dancing, an audience quiz and comic surprises, this show has become an international hit!

Dan Goggin, the seminarian-turned-musical theater author, launched Nunsense in 1985 to much success with 3,672 Off-Broadway performances and over 5,000 separate productions around the world in 21 languages. There are currently six sequel productions including Nunsense II: The Second Coming, Nuncrackers: The Christmas Musical, and Nunsations: The Vegas Revue.

The cast of Nunsense features (in alphabetical order): Missy Aguilar, Jane Brewer of West Chicago (previously in Fox Valley Rep's Roasting Chestnuts and Mid-life! The Crisis Musical), Wheeling native Kristine Burdi (previously in Fox Valley Rep's 2012 holiday hit The Winter Wonderettes), Patti Roeder of Oak Park, and Norridge native Monica Szaflik.

Nunsense runs Thursday, January 16, 2014 through Sunday, March 9, 2014. Show times are: Fridays & Saturdays @ 8pm, and Sundays @ 2pm. Special Thursday performances are January 16 & 23 @ 8pm, and January 30, and February 6 & 13, and March 6 @ 2pm. The show is rated PG13.

The rest of Fox Valley Repertory's 2014 Theater Series includes the coming-of-age comedy and memoir, Cheaper by the Dozen (March 27 - May 18, 2014), the story of the real Andrews Sisters in Sisters of Swing (June 5 - July 27, 2014), Neil Simon's heart-warming memoir, Brighton Beach Memoirs (August 28 - October 19, 2014), and the holiday music revue, Christmas on Broadway (November 13 - December 28, 2014). Season subscriptions start at $80 for five show-only tickets (discounted dinner-show subscriptions also available) and are currently available by calling the Box Office at 630-584-6342.

Pheasant Run Resort is located at 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL. For tickets, call the Pheasant Run Box Office at 630-584-6342, or visit www.ticketmaster.com. Additional performance information may be obtained at www.foxvalleyrep.org.
