Village Players Theater is excited to host the national award-winning "Fire in Boomtown" on their Mainstage Saturday April, 24th at 2pm.

"Fire in Boomtown" is an original story musical about the Great Chicago Fire performed by Songwriter Amy Lowe and Story Artist Megan Wells. Blending history, music storytelling and theater, the interactive performance is a lively and captivating lesson for young and old. Lowe and Wells use original songs to recreate the city-changing event, from the legend of O'Leary's cow to survivor testimonials to the strength of those that rebuilt the city from ash.

"Fire in Boomtown" received a Parent's Choice Gold award in 1999, who called the piece "a sterling mix of music, commentary, theater and history" that is "beautifully performed". "Boomtown" also received the 1999 Ed Press Distinguished Achievement Award in Electronic Media--Childrens. The L.A. times called it a "beautifully performed, compelling theatrical narrative" while Illinois Entertainer called it "engaging, entertaining, and educational".

"Fire in Boomtown" will be on Saturday, April 24th at 2pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 16 and under. The performance will at the Village Players Performing Arts Center, 1010 Madison St., Oak Park. The theater is near the Harlem exit of I-290 and is also accessible by the CTA Green and Blue lines and by Metra on the Union Pacific West (UP-W) line. Plenty of parking is available on the street.
