Eclipse Theatre Company, the only Midwest theatre company to feature oneplaywright in one season, concludes their 23rd anniversary, 2015 Terrence McNally season with The Lisbon Traviata, with Eclipse Ensemble Member and Goodman Theatre Artistic Associate Steve Scott directing. In The Lisbon Traviata, a sharply funny, yet deeply tragic, story centers on a revealing conversation between Stephen, a depressed literary editor and opera fanatic, and Mendy, a flamboyant opera queen. The two dish late into the night, distracting Stephen from his failing relationship with hilarious riffs on records, divas and more. But when Stephen returns home to confront his boyfriend, a tragedy unfolds on the scale of the grand opera he loves so much. The Eclipse production will feature the ending from the original 1985 production.

The Lisbon Traviata runs approximately two hours and fifteen minutes with one ten-minute intermission. Post-show discussions with the cast and crew will be held following all Sunday matinees except opening and closing weekends (free with paid ticket).
