Bailiwick Chicago's 'AIDA' At The American Theater Company Ends Run

By:

In its first Chicago production since the Broadway tour, with a pop-rock score that features stirring ballads and rousing choral numbers, Elton John and Tim Rice's 'AIDA' is a contemporary musical take on a classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever. Bailiwick Chicago partners with the modern dance company Deeply Rooted Dance Theater to bring this re-envisioned and exhilarating production to Chicago audiences for a limited run.

Starring BranDon Chandler, Damien Crim, Rashada Dawan, Aaron Holland, Randolph Johnson, Adrianna Parson, Bob Pries, and Daisica L. Smith. With Adriene Barber, William Barney, Pierre Clark, Desla Epison, Desmond Gray, Daryn Harrell, Varris Holmes, Andriana Pachella, Chip Payos, Tommy Rivera, Karla Victum and Kylah Williams. The show is directed by Scott Ferguson.

The production design team features John Holt (set), Ricky Lurie (costumes), Jared B. Moore (lights), Sarah N. Ramos (sound), Frank Mares (projections), Lee Strausberg (props/stage manager), Iman Crutcher (assistant director), Brian LaDuca (production manager), and Lili-Anne Brown (casting).

Bailiwick Chicago is a New Theatre Company that was formed by a group of dedicated actors, directors, and production professionals after Bailiwick Repertory Theater closed its doors in September 2009. This group, now called the "Collective", is the artistic ensemble responsible for the artistic mission and vision of the company. Bailiwick is responsible for bringing 'AIDA' to the American Theater Company. The American Theater Company (ATC) was founded in July 1985 as a company dedicated to exploring, nurturing, and developing theater that addressed and affected the real working-class people of Chicago.

AIDA will open July 10th at the American Theater Company. Performances run through August 1st on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm. Previews of the show begin July 1st. The theater is located at 1909 W. Byron, Chicago. Tickets will cost $25 - 35 dollars.
