Artemisia Presents their First Feminist Shakespeare - SHREWISH
Shakespeare's angel-faced gang tames a bad boy Kate in this sassy, gender-swapping version of Taming of the Shrew. SHREWISH opens November 4 and runs through November 20th at the beautiful Edge Theater, 5451 North Broadway, in Edgewater. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 6:00 pm. There is a special, one-time only matinee on Saturday, November 5th at 2 pm. Adapted and directed by Barbara Zahora, SHREWISH is a sexy romp through a wild night, as street-smart sweethearts pull the ultimate gender "switcheroo." Petruchio, a woman of color, tames Kate, a man, with a little hustle from her shady, beautiful crew. Shakespeare's battle of the sexes takes on a whole new meaning with a terrific cast featuring Dan Wilson, India Gurley, Savanna Rae, Danielle Davis, Veronda Carey and Mary Ann de la Cruz playing multiple roles.
Each-and-every performance will be followed by tantalizing talkbacks led by Regina Buccola and her team of scholars.
