Alliance Theatre Presents MOBY DICK by Lookingglass Theatre

The ALLIANCE THEATRE is pleased to present Moby Dick, a new aerial and acrobatic take on the Herman Melville novel by the Tony Award-winning Lookingglass Theatre Company. The Chicago-based Lookingglass Theatre last presented on the Alliance Stage in 2010 with their imaginative production, Lookingglass Alice. Moby Dick is adapted and directed by David Catlinand will run on the Alliance Stage October 12 - 30, 2016. Opening night is Wednesday, October 19, 2016.

Melville's classic tale of man's obsessive battle against nature comes to life in "a triumph of grand theatrical imagination, deep thought, superb acting, and eye-popping, ingeniously deployed physical daring" (Chicago Sun-Times). Bold trapeze and acrobatic work turn this seafaring American classic into a thrilling experiment in aerial storytelling. Audiences will set sail for an epic adventure with Captain Ahab and his crew in this harrowing quest for the great white whale. This jaw-dropping production delighted Chicago audiences, young and old.

Moby Dick stars Jamie Abelson (Ishmael), Christopher Donahue (Ahab), and Adeoye Mabogunje (Queequeg). Supporting cast includes Kelley Abell, Walter Owen Briggs, Cordelia Dewdney, Micah Figueroa, Kasey Foster, Raymond Fox, and Javen Ulambayar.

The creative team includes Set Designer Courtney O'Neill, Costume Designer Sully Ratke, Lighting Designer William C. Kirkham, Sound Designer & Composer Rick Sims, Aerial/Acrobatic Choreographer Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi, Dialect Coach Kathy Logelin, and Rigging Designer Isaac Schoepp.

Performances of Moby Dick are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 2:30 and 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., October 12 - 30, 2016. Opening Night is October 19. There will be no 2:30 p.m. performance onSaturday, October 15. There will be no 7:30 p.m. performance on Sunday, October 30.

Two special matinee performances for students will take place on Thursday, October 20, and Thursday, October 27, at 10:30 a.m. For ticket information, contact allianceschoolday@woodruffcenter.org or call 404.733.4661.

Tickets start at $20 and are available at the Woodruff Arts Center Box Office in person or by calling 404-733-5000. Tickets are also available online at www.alliancetheatre.org/mobydick. The ALLIANCE THEATRE is located at the Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree Street, NE, Atlanta, GA 30309, at the corner of Peachtree and 15th Street, in Midtown.
