About Face Theatre's Summer Camp 2009: A Summer Cabaret Series Begins 6/15

Artistic Director Bonnie Metzgar and Managing Director Rick Dildine are pleased to announce About Face Theatre's summer series of three cabaret performances before the start of 2009/10 season. Summer Camp 2009: A Summer Cabaret Series is sponsored by the Windy City Media Group.

POPPINS: A LOVIN' SPOONFUL, featuring the cast of the award-winning Broadway in Chicago Mary Poppins

Join About Face Theatre on June 15th (doors at 6:30pm, performance at 7:30pm) at Sidetrack (3349 N. Halsted) in Chicago's Boystown neighborhood where the cast of the award-winning Mary Poppins, now running at Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre, will perform a ONE NIGHT ONLY cabaret to benefit About Face Theatre. These talented performers - who have starred on Broadway stages in such hit musicals as The Pirate Queen, Aida, Chitty Chitty Bang, Bang, and many more - will sing a selection of songs exploring the theme of love and all its journeys. Worlds collide in Wicker Park's Subterranean (2011 North Avenue) on July 20th (doors at 7:30, performance at 8) as gifted queer performance artists from Chicago and the country at large perform for one night only. The Homo Show brazenly deconstructs Vaudeville, bringing you a variety show you won't soon forget, featuring provocative performers and a dance party to boot. Cost of admission is $10 in advance at aboutfacetheatre.com, $15 at the door.

FLIP FLOP Pop: The 70's is back in town for year three! "Chicago's Brightest Theatre & Cabaret Artists in a gender-bending night of music from the 70's"

Now in its third year, FLIP FLOP Pop: The 70's is back at Sidetrack (3349 N. Halsted) on August 24th! (Check sidetrackchicago.com for performance time) Last time our stars went to the movies but now they're hitting the pop charts as these amazing performers sing our favorite disco hits written for the opposite gender. Put together by Flip Flop regulars, this genderbent cabaret is produced by About Face Artistic Associate Amy Matheny and directed by About Face Artistic Associate Scott Ferguson.
