ATC to Present THE ROYALE by ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK's Marco Ramirez in 2015
American Theater Company (ATC) continues its 30th Anniversary Season with the premiere of a revised version of The Royale by Orange is the New Black and Sons of Anarchy writer Marco Ramirez, directed by ATC Ensemble Member Jaime Castañeda, January 30 to March 8, 2015. From Orange is the New Black writer Marco Ramirez comes this explosive new play that combines rapid-fire dialogue and rhythmic percussion to punctuate the epic journey of one man's quest for fame--no matter the consequence.
Marco Ramirez has had plays produced at Center Theatre Group, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Gift Theatre, and Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival of New American Plays, where he's twice won the Heideman Award for Best Ten Minute Play. Honors include Juilliard's Lila Acheson Wallace Playwriting Fellowship, Lincoln Center's Le Comte du Nouy Award, TCG's Edgerton Foundation New Play Award, and two WGA Award nominations. He's currently an artist-in-residence at The Atlantic Theatre Company, and is under commission at Playwrights Horizons and Center Theatre Group. He lives in Los Angeles, where his most recent TV writing credits include Sons of Anarchy (FX) and Orange is the New Black (Netflix).
