100 YEARS OF BROADWAY Comes To The Center 3/14

Neil Berg's "100 Years of Broadway" comes to The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University to perform classic Broadway hits Sunday, March 14 at 4 p.m. This live concert event features five performers with Broadway credentials, accompanied by some of New York's finest stage musicians, who perform dazzling arrangements of the renowned songs and scenes made legendary on Broadway. Single tickets are now on sale, starting at just $26 and available at centertickets.net or by calling The Center's friendly Box Office staff at (708) 235-2222. Theatergoers are also welcome to participate in The Center's new pre-show dining option at Scrementi's, 3760 Chicago Road, Steger, Ill. This option offers patrons the opportunity to enjoy a delicious pre-fixe menu that includes salad, beef, pasta, chicken, coffee and dessert for $25 per person. Led by pianist and composer Neil Berg, "100 Years of Broadway" presents a comprehensive musical revue that spans the grand 100- (technically, 102-) year history of Broadway. The set list for the show includes brilliantly revived arrangements of songs from "A Chorus Line," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Annie," "Anything Goes," "Brigadoon," "Cabaret," "Guys and Dolls," "Hair," "Jesus Christ Superstar," "La Boheme," "La Cage aux Folles," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Man of La Mancha," "Miss Saigon," "Oklahoma," "Phantom of the Opera," "Pippin," "Ragtime," "Rock of Ages," "Secret Garden," "Show Boat," "Sound of Music," "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "Tommy," and "Wicked."

Neil Berg is a composer and lyricist who wrote the Off-Broadway hit musical "The Prince and the Pauper," which ran for two years at Lambs Theatre in New York City. "(Berg's) music soars on Angel's wings," raves The New York Times. With several shows under his belt, Berg is currently composing the musical "Grumpy Old Men," based on the popular movie and scheduled to open on Broadway during the 2010-2011 season. The cast for "100 Years of Broadway" at The Center includes Broadway stars Rita Harvey, Brad Little, Carter Calvert, Robert DuSold and Lawrence Clayton.

The Center also proudly announces "Singing with the Broadway Stars," a convenient online audition opportunity offering a chance to join the five Broadway stars on stage. Submission guidelines are posted at www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com. The final submission deadline is Monday, March 1 at 11:59 p.m. One winner and up to eight runners-up will be selected by the show's panel of industry experts, including producers, singers, and managers as well as Pianist and Arranger Neil Berg. Winners will be notified via phone or e-mail by Friday, March 5, and will also receive a pair of complimentary tickets for their family and friends to see their "Broadway" debut.
