The Metrolina Theatre Association will host 2010 Unified Auditions on Saturday, June 26 from 9am to 5:30pm at ImaginOn, home of Children's Theatre Of Charlotte, located at 300 E. 7th Street in uptown Charlotte, NC 28202.

Actors 17 years of age or older who will be available during the 2010-11 theatre season will have the opportunity to audition for multiple local, regional, professional, semi-professional and community theatre companies, as well as independent theatre producers. The auditions will be held from 9am - 5:30pm in the Wachovia Playhouse at ImaginOn. Designers and theater technicians, including stage managers, will also have an opportunity to showcase portfolios and distribute resumes to interested companies and prospective collaborators after lunch.

There is no cost for actors to audition or for designers and technicians to participate in the technical showcase, although artists will need to complete a registration form and e-mail the form plus a copy of their headshot to mtaunifiedauditions@gmail.com
Registration is now open and will continue through June 16th. Get additional details and download Registration forms at the MTA website: www.metrolinatheatre.org

Companies, producers and casting agencies who wish to participate are invited to register from now until June 16th and pay a $35 fee to cover administrative costs for the event. Membership in Metrolina Theatre Association is not required for either auditionees or viewing companies.

MTA volunteers Marika Metting, Christie Kahil and Chip Caldwell are coordinating the event for MTA. Children's Theatre Of Charlotte is hosting the auditions at ImaginOn. CPCC is hosting the FREE ‘How to Audition' workshops on May 8 and 22 and the two Headshot Workshops on May 16 and 23.

ACTORS:
Actors should prepare a monologue (or contrasting monologues). Singers may bring music to sing 16 bars of a song; an accompanist will be provided. Total audition time is 90 seconds. Actors are asked to submit a registration form along with one copy of their headshot. Both Equity and non-Equity actors are invited to attend. For more information about the auditions, download the ‘General Information' document from the MTA website, or send e-mail to mtaunifiedauditions@gmail.com with ‘Unified Auditions' in the subject line.

HOW TO AUDITION WORKSHOP:
Want to be at your best on the day of the Unified Auditions? MTA will host two FREE ‘How To Audition' Workshops at CPCC on Saturday, May 8 and May 22 from 1-4 pm. The workshops will be facilitated by area directors. Actors will have the opportunity to ask questions and practice their audition pieces; the facilitators will offer suggestions, critiques and audition tips to actors and area newcomers who may not have previously experienced a Unified process. Registration is free. To sign up for the MTA FREE workshops or for more information, send e-mail to mtaunifiedauditions@gmail.com with "How To Audition Workshop" in the subject line.

HEADSHOT WORKSHOP:
Is it time to update your headshot? MTA is hosting two Headshot Workshops on May 16 and May 23 from 12-5pm at CPCC in the photography studio in the Center for Art Technology building. LunahZon Photography is graciously offering a Unified Auditions special price on the headshots of $50 per session. Actors will be expected to arrive with their hair and makeup ready to photograph. To sign up for the Headshot Workshop or for more information, send e-mail to mtaunifiedauditions@gmail.com with "Headshot Workshop" in the subject line. Please indicate which date and time you prefer to attend. Every effort will be made to accommodate your choice in date and time.

COMPANIES:
Companies, producers, and casting directors interested in viewing auditions should register and pay a $35 fee to cover copying and venue costs. The fee includes 2 registrants and a CD of participant headshots and registration forms, including a video of the audition; additional registrants are $5 each; additional headshot/resume CD's are $25. For more information send e-mail to mtaunifiedauditions@gmail.com with "Company Registration" in the subject line.

LUNCH:
The cost of lunch will not be included in the registration fee, but we are working hard to find a nominally priced solution. There will be an option for participating company representatives for ordering lunch - details to follow.

TECHNICAL SHOWCASE:
Designers, puppeteers, stage managers, acting teachers - If you work behind the scenes and want Charlotte's theater companies to know about you, this is the one-stop shop for you. Immediately after the lunch break, the companies will have the opportunity to meet you, to review portfolios and ask questions. For more information send e-mail to mtaunifiedauditions@gmail.com with "Technical Showcase" in the subject line. Or go to the MTA website and download the registration form.
