Have you ever dreamt of following your roots to the land of your ancestors, discovering long-lost family secrets, and unraveling the fabric of your history that makes you YOU?

For the winner of this auction, not only will this dream come true, but you will be accompanied on each step of your journey by a professional photographer, who will create a photographic journal as you trace your roots through exploration and art across three countries of your choosing!

Your amazing experience will begin with a complimentary DNA test kit from My Heritage. Once the results of your DNA are received, the fun begins! First, you'll select up to three countries of origin that pique your curiosity most (they do not need to be the countries that represent the largest percentage of your DNA).

Then, while a team of genealogists researches your family tree, a team of art historians will research the most influential artists of the era in which your ancestors inhabited each country AND acquire limited edition reproductions of their work for your private collection! So, as you explore Paris, Rome, or another exotic location, you can envision the streets, grottos and shops as they existed in your ancestors' time through the eyes of Van Gogh, Michelangelo, and other great masters.

That's right, the next phase of your experience will include business class airfare for two and lodging for 12 nights in your selected countries of origin, where you will receive complimentary tours of the world's most famous museums, lose yourself in masterpieces created at the time your ancestors walked the very same streets on which you stand, and connect with your heritage in ways you never imagined. And you'll be doing all of this with a professional photo journalist in tow!

This brings us to the culminating phase of your experience: the creation of a photographic journal of your travels, discoveries, and all of the precious memories in between. The series of photos will not just sit a book, however - they will be exhibited alongside your new limited edition art acquisitions for one evening at a private showing and reception in your honor at a local venue near you. What a wonderful way to celebrate your heritage with family and friends!

Details

  • Valid for 2 people.
  • At least one person must be 21.
  • Genealogical research will begin at the close of the auction (kits will sent to winning bidder, including a kit for a spouse or significant other).
  • Genealogical results will take about 6-8 weeks. As results are in, the family tree research will begin.
  • The winner can select up to the 3 countries/locations upon learning of the results. Note Safe Port Initiative can assist winner with conducting research to help determine countries/location.
  • Travel planning will begin in September 2018.
  • Duration: 12 nights, 13 days (between up to 3 countries). Please note winner and guest may spend 12 nights between 1 or 2 countries, if preferred.
  • The cost of food, beverages and activities outside of museum tours are not included.
  • Includes up to 9 museum tours led by a museum representative, coordinated by Safe Port Initiative.
  • Accommodations are included.
  • Room taxes are included.
  • Room type: 4 star accommodations; may be a hotel, a bed and breakfast, or a flat, depending on the winner's choice of locations.
  • Includes roundtrip airfare for two between all countries.
  • Location Restrictions: Government restrictions apply.
  • Airline: Dependent on point of origin and destinations (very likely more than one airline).
  • Seat Class: Business Class.
  • Airfare must be return from the same departure city.
  • Accommodations and airfare must be used in conjunction with this experience.
  • The winner will receive 3 limited edition works of art reflecting the country and the era representing the history of the winner's family in each of three countries.
  • Artwork will be sent as the winner identifies the countries of origin that they would like to visit and may be given a choice of artists depending on the country. For example, if winner's ancestors lived in France in the 19th century, a selection of masters may be available to choose from.
  • Artist of each piece will not be known in advance (dependent on winning bidder's countries of origin).
  • Medium: Limited edition serigraph, lithograph, collotype, wood cuts or etchings.
  • Approximate dimensions of each piece (inches): 24 x 20 x 1.
  • Cannot guarantee pieces will be signed by the artist.
  • Pieces will include a certificate of authenticity or a clean provenance.
  • Pieces will be framed.
  • Includes an exhibition of quality photos that will be used in the wining bidder's private showing and will comprise the oversized leather-bound photo journal. (Note: photos in the photo journal will be protected in sleeves - they will not be marred and can be removed at will by the winner for framing or other purposes).
  • Photo journal will be hand-delivered by a local agent, who will oversee the private showing (most likely, the photojournalist).
  • Private showing and reception will be hosted at a local venue near the winner's home or nearest metropolitan area.

  • We expect all winning bidders and their guests to conduct themselves appropriately when attending an experience won at Charitybuzz. Polite manners and respect for the generous donor and adherence to any rules or parameters are a must.
  • To be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon date, based on the donor's availability.
