MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON at Farmers Alley Theatre Extended Image

Farmers Alley Theatre is proud to announce that our current smash-hit production of MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON is extending with a special holdover weekend full of performances January 3rd through the 6th. This delightful jukebox musical by creator Roger Bean has won over audiences and critics alike, and now you've got even more opportunities to catch this "crowd pleaser". (Revue West Michigan). Performed in Farmers Alley Theatre's famous cabaret setting with desserts & coffee included with each ticket.

It's 1969 and "The Marvelous Wonderettes" (prom queen Cindy Lou, tomboy Betty Jean, goody two-shoes Missy & class clown Suzy) are back to throw a retirement party for their favorite teacher, set to the greatest girl-group hits of the 60's ("Gimme Some Lovin", "It's Your Thing"). Act Two finds the girls back together as the class of 1958 celebrates their 20-year reunion as one of the Wonderettes hits it big as musical superstar! Classic pop and rock hits of the 70's ("We are Family", "I Will Survive") provide the perfect soundtrack for these old friends to catch up on the places life has led them, all performed with their own marvelous spin!

Sandra Bremer returns to direct and choreograph after helming our first two versions of the show, "The Marvelous Wonderettes" and "Winter Wonderettes". WMU's Jeremiah Downes (The Christians, Beyond the Rainbow) serves as Music Director.

Artistic Director Jeremy Koch has put together an extremely talented cast of Farmers Alley Theatre favorites to portray the Wonderettes. Whitney Weiner (seen as Jenny in It Shoulda Been You, Trailer Park Musicals) plays the edgy prankster Betty Jean. WMU Alum Mallory King (I Love a Piano, Pinkalicious!) will charm audiences as the ditzy blonde, Suzy. Missy Karle (bride Rebecca in It Shoulda Been You) will keep everything in order as Teacher's Pet, Missy. And NYC performer Julia Burrows (star of the Fathom event movie "Buttons") roams the halls as the self-obsessed beauty queen, Cindy Lou.

"Their voices meld beautifully together, their solos are strong, and they play well with the requisite audience participation parts of the show. This well-chosen cast joyfully does this feel-good jukebox musical justice." (Revue West Michigan)

MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON now runs through January 6th! Tickets are $39 on Fri/Sat/Sun and $34 on Wed/Thu. Desserts and Coffee included with each performance - service begins 30 minutes prior to curtain. Reservations can be made by calling our Box Office at (269) 343-2727 or at www.farmersalleytheatre.com.
