County Players, one of the longest-running community theatre companies in the area is proud to present the Classic Comedy by Oscar Wilde “An Ideal Husband”. This Main Stage production directed by Michael J. Frohnhoefer opens Friday, February 9, and runs through February 24. Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays February 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, and 24 at 8 pm, with matinees on Sunday, February 18, and Saturday, February 24 at 2 pm with performances held at the County Players Falls Theatre, 2681 W. Main Street, in the Village of Wappingers Falls.
This witty and still topical play brings an act of political sin into the heart of the English home. An ambitious government minister, Sir Robert Chiltern’s smooth ascent to the top seems assured until Mrs. Cheveley appears in London with damning proof of his previous financial chicanery.
The production features the local talents of Veronica Acevedo, Connie Boden, Mike Boden, Craig Brown, Mark Colvson, Donna Conway, John Leinung, Keller Mickle, Glen Morrice, Rebecca Nagle, Peggy Ringwood, Amy Schaffer, and Robert Yarnall. Of this production director Frohnhoefer says, “Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband takes a satirical look at society and politics through the lens of relationships and integrity. This play, written over 120 years ago is still quite relevant, exploring concepts of wealth and power, love and forgiveness and the expectations of men and women. Oscar Wilde’s wit and humor shines through the play, contrasting richly with his social commentary. Come in from the cold and enjoy a rich, warm and witty romantic comedy.”
County Players, Inc. is at County Players Falls Theatre, Wappingers Falls, NY.
