World's Top Watercolorists To Debut New Show At Lake Placid Center Of The Arts August 3 Image

Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA), the two-time Olympic town's premier arts and culture destination venue, will present an original showing of some of the best watercolorists' work in the world, created in partnership with the award-winning American watercolorist, Sarah Yeoman.

The group show, World Through Watercolor, is comprised of four internationally recognized watercolor artists: Laurie Goldstein-Warren, a recent recipient of the High Winds Medal Award at the 150th American Watercolor Society Exhibition; Tim Saternow, renowned for his large-scale urban watercolors and a board member of the American Watercolor Society; Thomas Schaller, a best-selling author and AIA award winner; and Sarah Yeoman, an award-winning artist, a new signature member of the America Watercolor Society, and a seasonal Adirondack resident.

Combined, these artists' work and output spans the globe, with exhibitions and shows in Japan, Prague, Canada and Greece. World Through Watercolor will showcase a wide range of work, from brilliantly colored landscapes, to moody cityscapes, and portraiture.

"Watercolor as a genre is trending nationally, and it's important for us as a community to have access to this kind of work," said James Lemons, executive director of the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. "Two of these artists rarely show in the U.S., so for us to be able to bring such a rare experience to our community is really exciting. We think people who see the exhibit will be amazed by what's possible with this genre."

The show's opening reception is slated for August 3, 2018 at 7 pm at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, and is open and free to the public. Following the reception is the premier of a multi-disciplinary performance collaboration between Sarah Yeoman, Elisa Monte Dance and Chris Brubeck's Tripleplay. The performance features a chorographic exploration of Yeoman's watercolor series Crows and Ravens. Tickets for the EMD Does Brubeck performance at 7:30 pm are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
