Timothy Shew Leads Northern Stages' Upper Valley Haven and Toys for Tots Benefit

By: Nov. 21, 2011

Timothy Shew, veteran of seven Broadway shows, including the lead role in the original Broadway production of Les Misérables, will sacrifice a full head of hair to benefit The Upper Valley Haven and Toys for Tots, in preparation for his role as Daddy Warbucks in the upcoming Northern Stage production of Annie. The event will include a musical performance by the Annie orphans.

The event will take place Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5:00 p.m. at White River Toyota on Sykes Avenue in White River Junction and is FREE and open to the public. Attendees are urged to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to The Haven. Each person who brings a food item will be entered into a random drawing; the winner will wield the clippers alongside Northern Stage Producing Director Catherine Doherty and shave Mr. Shew’s lustrous locks!

In addition, anyone who brings a new, unwrapped present for Toys for Tots can have a photo taken with Wentworth, NH’s Mollie Brown, who will star as Annie.

White River Toyota has generously agreed to co-sponsor this production, along with Coldwell Banker Redpath Realtors and White Mountains Insurance Group.

“This is a great opportunity to give back to the community,” said Northern Stage Artistic Director Brooke Ciardelli. “When Tim came to us with this idea, we were overjoyed at his generosity—and his bravery!”

Northern Stage’s production of Annie, featuring Broadway stars and a dozen talented Upper Valley young people, runs from December 7 – January 8 at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction. Tickets and information are available at 802-296-7000 and www.northernstage.org.
