TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD Breaks Box Office Records at Geva

By: Mar. 22, 2016
In October, Geva Theatre Center announced that the opening production 2015-2016 Season, Monty Python's Spamalot, was the highest grossing five-week run in Geva history.

Geva is proud to announce that its production of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, directed by Mark Cuddy, attracted nearly 22,000 (including over 3,600 students) to become the highest-selling non-musical production in the history of Geva. 75% of the 34 performances were completely sold out. Additionally, seven school matinees were filled to capacity. Although a majority came from the Greater Rochester area, students travelled from as far away as Pavilion, Gananda, Phelps and Lyons to enjoy this acclaimed production.

The 2015-2016 Wilson Stage Series is sponsored by ESL Federal Credit Union. To Kill a Mockingbird was produced with support from Lead Co-Producer The Rochester Division of Oppenheimer Funds, Inc; Co-Producer Harter Secrest & Emery, LLP; Associate Producer SUNY Brockport and Media Sponsors Fox Rochester and WDKX. Canandaigua National Bank and Trust was the Sponsor of the P.L.A.Y. Student Matinees and Frontier Communications of Rochester was the sponsor for the March 4 performance of To Kill a Mockingbird.

Geva's ESL 2015-2016 Wilson Stage Season continues on March 29 with Eugene O'Neill's A Moon for the Misbegotten, co-produced with the Theatre Royal in Rochester's Sister City of Waterford, Ireland, with an Irish and American cast. The final ESL Wilson Stage production of the season will be The May Queen, a new comedy by Molly Smith Metzler, which begins on May 3. Season ticket sales for the recently announced 2016-2017 Season are trending well, with more than 65% of subscribers renewing their subscriptions prior to the March 16 announcement.
