Skidmore College Theater Announces Spring 2017 Seminar Productions
The Skidmore College Department of Theater is pleased to announce our Spring 2017 Seminar production season.
Black Box production:
FRAGMENTS
By Edward Albee
Directed by Shea Leavis '17
In Fragments, a group of eight people gather together and begin reading aloud a series of proverbs. These proverbs provoke those assembled to begin telling stories: stories from the past, of dreams, of identity, and those that question the most fundamental parts of existence. As the playwright Edward Albee says, "The piece proceeds as a piece of music does." Words build, scatter, and explode in rhythm. They serve as an examination of the human search for meaning in life, and the struggle to connect to the world and to one another through storytelling.
DATES: March 2 - 8
All shows at 8:00pm, except Sunday matinee at 2:00pm
Mainstage production:
BALM IN GILEAD
Directed by Phil Soltanoff
Rumor has it playwright Lanford Wilson sat in a gritty all-night diner on the Upper West Side of mid-1960's Manhattan - and just wrote down what he heard. The result is Balm in Gilead, one of the first plays of the Off-Off Broadway movement. The play creates a world of lost souls: pushers and junkies, hustlers and whores - social outcasts struggling delicately and brutally on the edge of poverty.
DATES: April 14 - 15 and 19 - 23
All shows at 8:00pm, except Sunday matinee at 2:00pm
TICKET PRICES: $12 General Admission / $8 Students + Seniors
