Little Radical Theatrics to Present THE WIZ, 7/19-21

Little Radical Theatrics (LRT) will present its Summer production of the classic Broadway musical "The Wiz" from July 19th - 21st at The Rosenthal JCC of Northern Westchester in Pleasantville, NY.
The Wiz is directed by Michael Mirra with musical direction by Brett Pontecorvo and choreography by Erika Louiz.
The cast, comprised of twenty diverse actors of all ages, features Maria C Perry as Dorothy; Denis Zepeda as Scarecrow; Alejandro Funes as Tin Man; John Hartigan as Lion; Markiss Robert as The Wiz; Sabrina Kershaw as Evilene; Ayanna Williams as Aunt Em/Glinda; Stephanie Lourenco as Addaperle; Matthew Walters-Bowens as Gatekeeper/Lord High Underling/Uncle Henry; Justin Santore as Head Flying Monkey; Hitomi Musa, Raquel DeSouza, Rhaven McIver, and Melissa Pellarano as The Yellow Brick Road; and Madison Pyles, Isaiah Negron, Zaida Rio Polanco, Maya Cruz and Anaiya Baptista as The Munchkins.
The Wiz has a book by William F. Brown with Music and Lyrics by Charlie Smalls.
Like the classic novel on which it is based, our story begins on the same tumbledown farm in Kansas, and the same tornado sets Dorothy Down in Oz. Now, here's where things get a little funky: With a score that spans such genres as rock, gospel, and soul, audiences find themselves "somewhere over the rainbow". Traveling along the yellow brick road, she encounters a hip Scarecrow who wants to join her because he has a feeling he isn't going anywhere; an uptight Tin Man who needs Dorothy's help to hang loose again, and a mama's-boy Lion who has lost faith in the psychiatric help he's been getting from an owl. Together, the four friends face-off against fierce creatures, witch's spells, and a myriad of other obstacles, as they seek help from the "great and powerful" one in the Emerald City.
