Gateway Acting School Will Host Open House, 1/25

The Gateway Acting School will hold an open house for interested students on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Bellport's Gateway Playhouse.

The open house will be held from 12pm - 5pm in the Gateway Playhouse lobby (215 South Country Rd., Bellport). Light refreshments will be provided. Open house attendees can enter a raffle for a free acting class. Registration has already begun for the school's next session, which begins Feb. 1.

During this free event, students of all ages can meet with the teachers of the Gateway Acting School and receive a one-on-one talent evaluation from the school's faculty. Scenes will be also be made available to students who wish to audition for upper division classes.

The school's founder and director, Robin Joy Allan is an accomplished actor and director, and has also cast several television shows and major motion pictures ("Ghost," "Lord of the Flies," "Parenthood," "Side Out," "When Harry Met Sally"). All instructors at the Gateway Acting School are working industry professionals and union members (Actors' Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild) with extensive performance and educational experience.

Interested parties can also tour the school's classrooms and surrounding property at the 65 year-old playhouse, including the original barn theatre - where luminaries such as Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman once honed their craft.

The Gateway Acting School is the educational division of Long Island's oldest professional theatre. The school has been in operation for over 20 years and attracts over 300 students annually. Personal exploration and self-expression are emphasized in the classroom. Recent students have found success in film, television and theatre, including Brendan Dooling ("The Carrie Diaries") and Nolan Lyons, whose work will be featured in the Monday, Jan. 9 episode of "The Blacklist" - starring James Spader.
