The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival presents Flutes in the Drawing Room at Hyde Hall on Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 pm. The Festival continues its tradition of featuring young flutist from the NY Summer Music Festival International Flute Institute, but in a new location: Hyde Hall, a neoclassical country mansion at the north end of Otsego Lake.

The concert is the culmination of two weeks of intensive study. The winner of the Institute's Concerto Competition also will perform. The program includes classical favorites as well as some unpublished works from Hyde Hall's collection. The performance is free, but seating is limited.

"Hearing the flute choir in the Drawing Room at Hyde Hall will be unforgettable," says Linda Chesis, who is the artistic director and founder of the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival, and also an instructor at the International Flute Institute. She noted that in June, the Festival held a Pro Am performance there that was especially well received.

There will be a free make-your-own-flute activity for children, beginning at 7 pm. Bring a clean 1 liter soda bottle if possible.

No tickets or reservations necessary for the Flutes in the Drawing Room performance. Come early to ensure seating. People are also welcome to listen on the lawn. Reach Hyde Hall through Glimmerglass State Park, off Route 31. The address of Hyde Hall is 267 Glimmerglass State Park Road in Cooperstown.
