Chenango River Theatre Presents I AM A CUBAN SANDWICH, 8/6

By: Jul. 27, 2012

Looking for a good time? For $12? Try a Cuban sandwich. I AM A CUBAN SANDWICH, starring Richard DiPietra plays Chenango River Theatre on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, for one night only.

Hot from Ybor City in Tampa (pronounced e-bore, not y-bore!) comes this funny and entertaining one-man show about growing up in the immigrant district that spawned the historic Cuban Sandwich. Ybor was also the headquarters of the handrolled Cuban cigar industry in the U.S. By 1900 it was known as the cigar capital of the world.

I Am A Cuban Sandwich has been performed to high acclaim dozens of times over the last two years in venues throughout Florida.

Written by lifelong theatre artist Richard DiPietra and his wife, MaryEllen, this is a story about the heart and history of a very special place. Ybor is sort of Tampa’s version of the French Quarter - as told fondly by native son Richard DiPietra, who reminisces about both the everyday and the famous people from his youth growing up there (Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio might show up during the evening). A highlight of the show is Richard dancing with a loaf of Cuban bread.

Tickets are just $12. Only 50 seats remain. The 24 Hour Reservation Line accepts reservations at any time at 607 656-8499 (TIXX). Tickets may be charged to MasterCard, Visa or Discover.

The show begins at 7:30pm at Chenango River Theatre, 991 State Highway 12, Greene NY (15-20 minutes from Binghamton). All performances start on time - late seating is not available. The box office opens one half hour before curtain. Visit www.chenangorivertheatre.org for more information.
