Adirondack Shakespeare Company to Present JULIUS CAESAR & THE MERCHANT OF VENICE This Spring

Winter may feel like it never really arrived, but Adirondack Shakespeare Company is ready to officially welcome spring in April with productions of Julius Caesar and The Merchant of Venice. For the first time the company is also offering a number of educational performances for local students of last summer's original children's play, Songs of the Iroquois: Turtle Island.

More exciting than the opening of the company's season is the glorious return of actor, Sean Lounsbury, to the stage after the autumn's horrific car crash. In September upon their arrival for the Autumn Festival Season, five actors were involved in a head-on collision in Johnsburg, and Sean's injuries prevented him from being a part of the season. He is doing remarkably well, and the Company is excited to announce his return to the stage this season as Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice and reprises his role as Flint in Songs of the Iroquois: Turtle Island. He will also stage manage Julius Caesar as he continues to prepare for his upcoming stint as the title role in Hamlet this autumn.

"As difficult as my recovery was last fall, I cannot imagine how many times that difficulty would be multiplied if the accident had not happened here in Adirondack Park," Sean shares. "I thank the accident for exposing to me the warmth and unconditional love this community has, not just for me, but for humanity. Citizens of Adirondack Park, Tara, Patrick, in my heart your love will be requited for eternity."

ADK Shakespeare performs for the first at Proctors in Schenectady, as well as the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, the Upper Jay Art Center, and View in Old Forge. The Bullhouse restaurant in Chestertown also hosts a delightful High Tea on Sunday, April 10. The menu will be a traditional high tea with a Latin flare served up with a matinee performance of The Merchant of Venice
