The concert will include the debut of the New Music Competition winner Danza De Los Matachines by Christian Erickson, performed by the WSO String Quartet Heidi Deifel & Ben Winckler (violin); Gary DePaolo (viola); and Christine Dunbar (cello).
Christine Dunbar, cellist, has called Casper her home since 2003. Hailing from Rapid City SD, she is an active performer and music educator.
Christine has been the principal cellist with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra since 2003 and the cellist in various chamber ensembles within the Casper musical community; she is a regular on the Casper Chamber Music Society concert series and loves collaborating and performing with her Casper based musical colleagues. She also regularly performs as a section cellist with the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Dunbar is a string educator for the Natrona County School District where she instructs over 100 6th-8thgrade string players on a daily basis. Ms. Dunbar isalso an active string clinician and adjudicator throughout the state of Wyoming having recently worked with orchestras in Laramie and Sheridan. She was the conductor of the 2013 Wyoming Ambassadors of Music String Orchestra and had been booked to run another European tour in 2015. She also serves as adjunct cello instructor at Casper College and runs a private cello studio.
Christine Dunbar has been playing cello for 30 years. She began her musical training in Rapid City, SDas a student of Steve Gram. She earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree with an emphasis in pedagogy from the University of Wyoming studyingcellowith Barbara Thiem. While attending UW, she performed in master-classes led by the Emerson String Quartet, David Finckel, Helga Winold, and Dennis Parker. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued her teaching certificate and a degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Montana State University. Beforecoming to Casper, Christine taughtcellofor the Black Hills Suzuki Academy and freelanced with several orchestra and opera companies including; the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra, Powder River Symphony, Western Nebraskan Chamber Players, Canyon Concert Ballet, and the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.
