Class Descriptor:
This course will examine the broad question of how to produce Shakespeare’s plays to attract and captivate a contemporary audience. The specific focus will be "Hamlet: Prince of Denmark" with the emphasis on the crime-solving detective aspect of the play. The play begins with a ghostly revelation that a major crime has been committed and which the hero is compelled to investigate. In the process Hamlet finds that his own integrity is severely challenged by his own involvement in homicide. The course will conclude in a single weekend of performances.
Note: Please bring your own copy of Hamlet; any version is acceptable; however, the Kitteridge version is preferred.
