Roughing It Day Camp

Roughing It Day Camp is a family-owned, all-outdoors day camp founded in 1972 and operating on a 900-acre lakefront site at the Lafayette Reservoir in California's East Bay. The camp serves campers from preschool through 10th grade in small groups that stay with the same counselor, and is accredited by the American Camp Association and a member of the Western Association of Independent Camps. Instruction is skill-based across horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking, waterfront and adventure activities, with dedicated programming for older campers and teens. Sessions run two, four, six or eight weeks, and the longer sessions carry a built-in multi-session discount. Tuition is all-inclusive and includes free transportation from 33 central pick-up points across San Francisco, the East Bay, Contra Costa and the Tri-Valley, plus free before- and after-camp extended care.
