Alvernia

Camp Alvernia is a coed summer day camp in Centerport, New York, founded in 1888 and conducted by the Franciscan Brothers on 15 wooded acres on Centerport Harbor. It serves several hundred campers ages 3 to 15 across age-based programs: Duckling and Sandpiper for the youngest campers, Plover, Osprey and Heron for grades 1 through 6, and Eagle for grades 7 through 9. The camp deliberately maintains the culture and feel of an old-fashioned sleepaway camp with the convenience of a day camp, and organizes its community around the motto Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Your Environment. The season is divided into four two-week sessions running from late June through late August, with campers able to enroll for two through eight weeks. Fifteen-year-olds can join the CITeagle counselor-in-training program. Camp Alvernia is accredited by the American Camp Association.

Camp runs weekdays 9:00 am-3:30 pm, with extended hours 7:30 am-5:00 pm available for summer 2027. Sibling discounts of $350 to $550 and an optional Payment Protection Plan are offered. A $250 per session deposit is required at registration.
