The Tony nominated and Emmy-winning Liz Callaway headlines New Year's Eve at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, in two different shows in one night. Her early show, at 8pm, is a reprise of her new hit act "Passage of Time," which premiered in October, earning ecstatic reviews. Her late show, at 10:30pm, is a special concoction for New Year's eve, "Countdown with Callaway," in which the Broadway singer threads in many of her well-known hits ("Meadowlark," "Memory," "The Story Goes On") with songs from the 60's and a few eye-opening surprises. The cover charge for the 8pm show is $40 (plus a two-drink minimum). The late-show's cover is $125 (plus tax and gratuity), which includes free-flowing hors d'oeuvres, dessert, a champagne toast and open bar.

In reviewing "Passage of Time" in October, Stephen Holden of The New York Times proclaimed that Callaway's is "a big, bright Broadway voice that illuminates a room like a ray of sunshine beamed to the rafters. (...) She had the packed house cheering." Based on her newly released album of the same name (PS Classics), "Passage of Time" features songs by Carly Simon, Stephen Schwartz, the Beatles, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Maltby and Shire, Stephen Sondheim and John Bucchino, among others.

Seen most recently on Broadway in "The Look of Love," Callaway made her Big Stem debut in the original cast of Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along." Besides "Baby" (for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical) she starred in "Cats," "Miss Saigon" and "The Three Musketeers." "Passage of Time" is Callaway's first album in eight years.

Rated "Best of New York" by New York Magazine in 2008, the Nightlife and Bistro Award-winning Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22ndStreet, opened its doors in May 2006. The club is celebrated for booking both well-known and up-and-coming singers in shows spanning an eclectic range of styles -- from jazz and cabaret, to folk, pop and rock.
