Karen Akers to Perform at Oak Room Supper Club at The Algonquin 9/14-10/23

Karen Akers will perform her new show 'Dancing on the Ceiling' at the Oak Room Supper Club at New York's Algonquin Hotel from September 14 through October 23, the Algonquin has announced on its official website

'Dancing on the Ceiling' will feature the songs of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.  Akers will perform numbers including 'Where or When,' 'Isn't It Romantic?,' 'Dancing on the Ceiling,' 'The Lady is a Tramp,' 'This Funny World,' 'Falling in Love with Love,' 'A Lady Must Live,' and 'I Could Write a Book.'    'Dancing on the Ceiling' will feature direction by Eric Michael Gillett and musical direction by Don RebicDick Sarpola will play bass.

Akers will perform at 8:30pm Tuesdays through Saturdays with additional 11pm performances on Fridays and Saturdays.  The cover will be $60 for all performances except for the 8:30 weekend performances, for which it will be $65.  There will be an additional $30 food and drink minimum.  To make reservations, call 212-419-9331 or e-mail bmcgurn@algonquinhotel.com.

Karen Akers's Broadway credits include NINE, for which she won a Theatre World Award, and GRAND HOTEL.  On film, she has appeared in 'The Purple Rose of Cairo,' 'Heartburn,' and 'Vibes.'  Akers has also performed frequently in concert.
