FOX News Channel's (FNC) FOX & Friends All-American Summer Concert Series presented American soul band Tower of Power today, August 16th, 2013. Band creator Emilio Castillo spoke about how his music career began. Check out the interview below!

"Well I got caught stealing a t-shirt. I had a really short crime career," joked Castillo. "They caught me the first time out. My dad gave me a note that said, 'Fill it with why you're never going to steal again, and while you're in there think of something that's going to keep you off the streets.' And I said, 'We wanna play music, Dad.' And he said, 'Get in the car!' He took me to the music store and he told me to get anything I want. I point to the sax, my brother pointed to the drums, I've had a band ever since."

Tower of Power is best known for their funky soul sound highlighted by a powerful horn section and precisely syncopated bass-guitar lines. There have been several lead vocalists, the most famous being Lenny Williams, who fronted the band between early 1973 and late 1974, the period of their greatest commercial success.
