The Bookshop is a Spanish, British and German co-produced drama film. Directed and written by the Spanish director Isabel Coixet, based on the novel by Penelope Fitzgerald, the film stars Emily Mortimer as Florence Green, Patricia Clarkson as Violet Gamart, and Bill Nighy as Edmund Brundish. This is the third collaboration between Patricia Clarkson and Isabel Coixet, after Elegy and Learning to Drive, and the second 2017 film that features both Emily Mortimer and Clarkson after The Party. The film won three Goya Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The Bookshop is set for theatrical release August 24, 2018. Watch the trailer below!

Florence Green, a free-spirited widow, puts grief behind her and risks everything to open up a bookshop -- the first such shop in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough, England. But this mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies: she invites the hostility of the town's less prosperous shopkeepers and also crosses Mrs. Gamart, Harborough's vengeful, embittered alpha female who is a wannabe doyenne of the local arts scene.
