EWonline reports that Thomas Gibson is set to direct an episode of the upcoming eighth season of CBS's CRMINAL MINDS. The actor portrays Aaron Hotchner on the long-running crime drama series.

While the episode will mark the first time Gibson has directed an episode of the drama, it will not be his directorial debut. The actor helmed two episodes of the ABC comedy Dharma & Greg in which he co-starred with Jenna Elfman

Gibson joked to EW, "Really looking forward to finally telling everyone what to do. Riding crop, monocle and bullhorn at the ready…! Just kidding, honestly I really look forward to flexing my artistic muscles on the set and I’m so grateful for this amazing opportunity. ”

The episode will be penned by Rick Dunkle and will include a reappearance by Hotchner's brother, played by actor Eric Johnson. Executive producer Erica Messer commented, “It’s about time we go there again."

Gibson's best known roles include Daniel Nyland on CBS's Chicago Hope, Greg Montgomery on ABC's Dharma & Greg, and his current role on CBS's Criminal Minds. The series returns September 26 on CBS.
