Deadline.com reports that Lee Daniels' THE BUTLER, with megastar Oprah, served its competition at this weekend's box office, with a nearly $9 million opening on Friday and heading toward $25 million or more by Sunday.

The Weinstein Company should likely thank Oprah for taking on her first film role in 15 years and drawing curious crowds.

Superhero comedy KICK-ASS 2 opened with a less-than-violent bang on Friday with $5.5 million and is looking to bring in $15.6 this weekend. The first KICK-ASS film opened to $19.8 million in 2010, faring not much better than its sequel.

Open Road's Steve Jobs biopic JOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher, took just $2.4 million on Friday, with an anticipated $6.7 million weekend gross.

Finally, in last place at No. 10 is PARANOIA with Liam Hemsworth and Harrison Ford, which drew just $1.3 million on Friday and is shooting for $4 million for the weekend.
