On Sunday, October 30th, The 2nd Annual Carney Awards will honor outstanding character actors at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. This year's honorees include Steve Buscemi, Jonathan Banks, Gary Cole and Michael Peña, who will be honored in the Up and Coming category. Veteran character actor Dan Hedaya, whose career spans almost 50 years and has one of the most recognizable faces in television and film, will be receiving the Chairman's Lifetime Achievement Award. The immensely entertaining actor Fred Willard returns to host the show.

Named in honor of the late Oscar-winning and six-time Emmy-winning actor Art Carney, the ceremony recognizes exceptional achievement in character acting, a category all but forgotten by the other awards shows. The Carney Award is presented to those character actors who have appeared in dozens of films and television shows and although people may not know their names, everyone knows their faces. Art Carney wanted to make sure this award be kept to the highest level of integrity and, as such, honors remarkable actors who provide the fabric and texture to movies and television shows.

Actor and voiceover artist Brian Carney, son of Art Carney, created and executive produces the show with brothers Jim Katz, an Emmy-winning producer, and David Katz, CEO of the Elvis Duran Group in New York City. Carney says of his father, "Being a person who almost always shied away from the limelight, my dad would be center stage for this awards show, acknowledging all these fine actors and their accomplishments." Jim Katz adds "Without this body of actors, every film and television show would fall flat. They deserve to be in the spotlight and honored as the best of the best." David Katz explains their inspiration for creating the show, "As an unabashed fan of movies and TV, I was always struck by the exclusion of Hollywood's character actors when it came time to hand out awards and accolades. We created The Carney Awards to change all that - recognizing the most recognizable."

The winners were chosen by the voting members of the Board of Directors which consists of a diverse group of industry professionals including actors, directors, producers and studio heads.
