Actor Scott Porter is to join the cast of CBS's 'The Good Wife,' Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports. Porter will play Blake, a detective who works for the firm that merges with Gardner and Lockhart, where main character Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) works.

Blake will be a foil for private investigator Kalinda (Archie Punjabi), says Ausiello, who notes that the casting breakdown states that Blake "offsets his cynical attitude with lots of hidden humor and sexual charisma. He is disguised as a landlord when he first encounters Kalinda, who doesn't appreciate being taken in by this 'master of disguise.' However, underneath their fractious interactions, there's definite chemistry between these two."

Porter will appear in up to ten episodes.

Scott Porter appeared Off-Broadway in ALTAR BOYZ. His screen credits include 'Friday Night Lights,' 'Bandslam,' 'The Good Guy,' 'Dear John,' and the upcoming 'Nomads.'

'The Good Wife' is a drama dealing with Alicia Florrick, who returns to her former job as a lawyer when her husband is jailed following a scandal. The show airs on CBS Tuesdays at 10/9c; Season Two is scheduled to begin on September 28, 2010. For more information, visit http://www.cbs.com/primetime/the_good_wife/.
