Rainn Wilson has confirmed reports that he is in talks to star in a potential spin-off of the NBC hit comedy THE OFFICE.

In a red carpet interview with E!'s Giuliana Rancic at last night's SAG Awards, the actor revealed that details are coming together for the possible series. "It could be really cool because It would be on his farm, which would be a bed & breakfast, and it would have a crazy menagerie of characters. It would be even more far out and weirder than The Office... it's a good idea."

Last week it was reported that Wison, actor Paul Lieberstein and NBC executive producer Ben Silverman were considering the idea of a spin-off. The new comedy would feature Wilson's character Dwight Schrute as a farmer outside of Scranton, PA. Previous episodes of the hit NBC comedy have depicted Schrute's family background as beet farmers who manage a bed & breakfast in the outskirts of the city.

NBC is planning a pilot episode of the proposed series which would air later this season. If it proves successful, it would become a midseason replacement for the network in 2013. Wilson would appear in his role on THE OFFICE for the fall season, before transferring over to his new series later in the year.
