New Maximum Warrior Episode Narrows Field to Three
Maximum Warrior is a one-of-a-kind competition that tests 20 contestants in 15 action-packed, adrenaline filled challenges. Presented by MAXIM, in partnership with the Jeep® Brand, Maximum Warrior just released its eighth webisode: ON-ROAD HIGH SPEED DRIVING. Four remaining warriors battled it out, competing to become one of the three who would advance. The ultimate goal of this challenge was to get their rescue subject (a 180-pound dummy) to the finish line after two laps around a rigorous and surprise filled course with the fastest time. To raise the stakes even higher, the warrior with the slowest time was eliminated.
The Warriors drove onto the course only to be surprised by blind turns, but that was only the beginning of the challenge. During the second lap, warriors experienced a simulated IED detonation, which consequently killed the engine on their vehicle. Each warrior was required to think fast and decide whether he would carry his rescue subject or attempt to coast to a second vehicle. Once the warrior and his subject were both safely in the second car, the competitor drove toward the finish line. Before he could reach it, however, a second mock IED blasted near the car. With the clock still running, the warrior had to make one last decision - coast it or hoof it. The On-Road High Speed Driving challenge was won by Air Force Pararescue, Luke D., with a time of 5:59, 10 seconds faster than the second place competitor. Luke D. has won the last three challenges.
Real-Life Challenges:
The On-Road High Speed Driving challenge, along with all 14 other challenges in the 2011 Maximum Warrior series, was modeled after a very real situation that U.S. armed service members can and do encounter on the battlefield. They may be carrying out one mission, such as in Challenge 8, in which they need to drive a comrade to safety, only to have enemy forces throw them curve balls. Warriors must instantly adapt to the rapidly changing scenario.
