Michael Mayer Set to Direct THE INFERNO on NBC

According to Deadline.com, Scott Stuber and Gordon Ramsay are working on a new NBC drama titled The Inferno. Created by Liz Garcia and Josh Harto, the series is set to be directed by Broadway's Michael Mayer. The Inferno is a 'dark, operatic drama about two fledgling New York restaurateurs who, on the eve of bankruptcy, decide to hire a magnetic, fiery, larger-than-life mysterious Italian chef.'

Mayer received the 2007 Tony Award, as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for his production of Spring Awakening, which also played in London, Vienna, Tokyo and Seoul.

His other Broadway credits include Side Man (Tony Award/Best Play), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tony Award/Best Musical), A View From the Bridge (Tony Award/Best Revival), Uncle Vanya, 'night, Mother, After the Fall, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, American Idiot and Triumph of Love. Most recently Mayer directed Broadway's On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, starring Harry Connick, Jr., and the current touring production of American Idiot.
