Meshach Taylor Passes Away at 67

Emmy Award-winning actor Meshach Taylor passed away late last night, June 28. His agent, Dede Binder, said the cause was colorectal cancer. His son told the LA Times that Taylor was in hospice care at his family's home and surrounded by loved ones when he died at 10:47 p.m.

Taylor honed his craft early on by performing on stage. His first professional acting job was in national tour of Hair. He also performed as part of Chicago's Goodman Theatre and the Organic Theater Company. From here, he transitioned to television and movies. His TV credits include Criminal Minds, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Dave's World, Designing Women, Buffalo Bill, and more. His movie credits include Hyenas, Wigger, Tranced, Friends and Family, and more. However, he did return to the stage in 1998 when he joined Broadway's Beauty and the Beast.

Taylor is survived by his wife, Bianca Ferguson, and four children, Tamar, Esme, Yasmine, and Tariq. He is also survived by his four grandchildren.
