Magic Leap Launches Indie Development Grant

Magic Leap announced a brand new Independent Creator Program that will dole out grants of $20,000 to $500,000 to approved independent developers in exchange for them creating augmented reality content, according to Variety.

"This is essentially the first wave of a multi-wave program," Magic Leap chief content officer Rio Caraeff told Variety. "The program is designed to support the world's best independent developers and creators with financial grants, hardware support, dedicated engineering support, and marketing support."

Submissions for the grants open today on the Magic Leap website.

The company will be an "eight-figure program," he said. "We think it is a big deal for us in terms of embracing the independent development community."

Caraeff said that next year will likely see an increased focus on more enterprise applications and use cases for Magic Leap.

"We have seen a tremendous amount of interest there," he said.
