Louis C.K. Buys Back Film I LOVE YOU, DADDY Following Sexual Misconduct Controversy

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that comedian Louis C.K. is in the process of buying back his film I Love You, Daddy following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

Indie distributor The Orchard is currently working out a deal to return rights to the film to C.K.. The company is said to have struck a deal with the disgraced filmmaker. which involves C.K. absorbing costs for the film's marketing campaign and promotional materials for awards purposes.

The purchase follows the project being dropped by all overseas distributors, after sexual assault allegations against Louis C.K were released and confirmed by the comedian, as reported by Deadline.

Middle East Distributor Front Row Entertainment released the following statement about their decision to cancel the film.

"As much as we acknowledge Louis C.K.'s creative and performing talent... releasing the film in the Middle East and North AFRICA would mean condoning this type of behavior and forgetting the damage it has caused and still causes to the victims regardless of gender. Therefore, we at Front Row have decided not to release the film. This is the type of message we need to send to the whole system, which needs to reexamine its core ethical and professional values."

I LOVE YOU, DADDY premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September to much buzz about its subject matter: a young girl being seduced by a much older director and pedophile. The black and white film stars C.K., John Malkovich, Chloe Grace Moretz, Rose Byrne, Edie Falco, Charlie Day, Pamela Adlon, Helen Hunt and Ebonee Noel. The dark comedy was set to open in New York and Los Angeles November 17th, with more theaters added December 1st. The distributer of the film, The Orchard, announced Friday that they will no longer release I LOVE YOU, DADDY, after acquiring it for $5 million.

FX, HBO and Netflix have also pulled the plug on all previous and upcoming Louis C.K. projects.

Louis C.K. released the following statement to confirm all of the sexual assault allegations and apologize for his behavior.

The New York Times reported last Thursday that five women came forward with sexual assault allegations against the comedian.
