Larry Charles and Son Team Up for TREASON OR REASON at HERO's Classic Film Project Today
Emmy award-winning director/writer Larry Charles (Borat, Religulous, Bruno, Seinfeld) and his son Francesco DeSantis join forces for the first time to pen the world premiere of "Treason or Reason". "Treason or Reason" is part of HERO Theatre's Classic Film Project, world premiere scenes inspired by classic films performed live on a historical soundstage today, September 7th, 2013 in Los Angeles for two shows only.
The cast of "Treason or Reason" includes Philip Proctor of the Firesign Theatre and Ric Salinas of comedy-troupe Culture Clash. Other cast members include Nick Caballero, Korey Jackson, Ephraim Lopez, Daniel Marmion, Jerry Nessis and Alison Quinn.
"The Classic Film Project" will be presented at the Mack Sennett Studios in Los Angeles on September 7, 2013, then later in New York City. Other writers include Pulitzer-winner Quiara Alegria Hudes, Ricardo A. Bracho, Colman Domingo, Jennifer Haley, Tamar Halpern, Juri Henley-Cohn, Danny Hoch, Carmen Rivera, Ethan Sandler, Candido Tirado and Annie Weisman. Directors include Elisa Bocanegra, Amy French, Michael-John Garces, Yetta Gottesman, Tamar Halpern, Kerry Lambert, Diane Rodriguez and Tina Sanchez.
Olympia Dukakis is Chair of HERO Theatre's Advisory Board. Other members include Michael Ritchie (Artistic Director of the Center Theatre Group), Jenny Gersten (Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival), Bill Rauch (Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), esteemed directors Michael Wilson and Lisa Peterson, playwright Migdalia Cruz and casting director Judy Bowman.
