According to the Huffington Post, actors Kate Winslet and Kenneth Branagh may be teaming up for a second time for a big screen adaptation of Mary Ann Shaffer's best-selling novel THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY. Winslet is reportedly interested in taking on the lead role in the film which Branagh is set to direct. The actors worked together in the 1996 film 'Hamlet'.

The 2009 book takes place during the German occupation of the island of Guernsey in 1946. The book was written as a series of letters between pen pals and involves a complicated love story set against the back drop of war. Winslet would portray a journalist, Juliet Ashton, who receives a letter from a stranger, a founding member of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The correspondence eventually leads to a close personal letter writing relationship.

The script for the project was penned by Don Roos, who wrote 'The Other Woman'. Filming on the upcoming movie is set to begin this March.
