Jack Wagner & Melissa Gilbert to Join DANCING WITH THE STARS

According to TMZ, actors Jack Wagner and Melissa Gilbert will be contestants on the upcoming season of DANCING WITH THE STARS. Also reported to join the cast is The View's Sherri Shepherd.

Wagner, who currently portrays Captain Nick Marone on "The Bold and The Beautiful" became a household name when he played Frisco Jones on "General Hospital". He topped the Top 40 charts in 1984 with his single "All I Need"

Wagner made his Broadway debut in JEKYLL AND HYDE and performed in national tours of the musicals WEST SIDE STORY and GREASE. He also starred in the musical comedy THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG at the Long Beach Civic Light Opera.

Gilbert's theatre credits include: Off-Broadway: A Shayna Maidel (Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards); Regional: Love Letters (Canon Theater, LA); The Glass Menagerie (Chautauqua Theater Company); The Miracle Worker (Royal Poinciana Playhouse, Palm Beach); Bus Stop and Love Letters (Univ. of Tennessee, Knoxville); Little House on the Prairie, the Musical (Guthrie). Television: Series lead in "Little House on the Prairie," starred in more than 40 movies for television, including Emmy Award-winning The Miracle Worker, and more than a dozen television series, including "Nip/Tuck," and "Sweet Justice." Ms. Gilbert served as President of the Screen Actors Guild from 2001-05, and is currently the Standing Board Chair and Spokesperson for the Children's Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition. Ms. Gilbert is also a New York Times best-selling author with the recent publication of her autobiography, Prairie Tale - A Memoir, from Simon & Schuster.

Along with co-hosting "The View," Shepherd is currently hosting GSN's "The Newlywed Game," has a recurring role on NBC's "30 Rock" and will appear in the upcoming season of "Hot in Cleveland." She starred in the popular sitcom "Less Than Perfect," executive produced her own Lifetime series "Sherri" and appeared in a number of films, including the Academy Award(R)-winning film "Precious."

Hosted by Tom Bergeron ("America's Funniest Home Videos") and Brooke Burke ("Dancing with the Stars" Season Seven Champion), "Dancing with the Stars" is the hit series in which celebrities perform choreographed dance routines which will be judged by renowned ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

DANCING WITH THE STARS is the U.S. version of the international smash hit series, "Strictly Come Dancing." This version is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Conrad Green serves as executive producer and Ashley Edens-Shaffer and Joe Sungkur are co-executive producers. Alex Rudzinski directs. "Dancing with the Stars" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.
