ICG Names 2018 Award Recipients and Honorees at Emerging Cinematographer Awards

Rachel Morrison (Director of Photography), Amy Vincent (Director of Photography) and Anne Thompson (IndieWire Editor-at-Large) are the recipients of the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600) special 2018 Emerging Cinematographer Awards (ECA), announced Steven Poster, ASC, ICG's National President at the debut screening of this year's selected films at the DGA, Sunday night.

The 2018 Annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards ceremony, spotlights promising cinematographers and providing crucial exposure needed to succeed in the motion picture industry. Additionally, screenings in three major U.S. cities will follow including New York at the SVA Theatre, October 28; ATLANTA at the SCADshow, November 4; and Chicago at the Logan Theatre, November 4.

Rachel Morrison, ASC (Director of Photography) received the Canon Award for Advancement in Technology.

Amy Vincent, ASC was presented with the ASC Cinematography Mentor of the Year Award.

Anne Thompson, Indiewire editor at large, received The Technicolor William Fraker Award for Distinguished Journalism.

The ECA's showcased a collection of the winning nine short films that were shot by ICG members not currently classified as Directors of Photography. The honorees, who were selected from 104 submissions, were: Hunter Robert Baker, Peacock Killer (Operator); Tommy Daguanno, Detroit Diamond (Operator); Drew Dawson, Demon (2nd Assistant); T. Acton Fitzgerald, Intrusions (Operator); Clifford Jones, Baby Steps (Digital Imaging Technician); Martin Moody, Goldblooded (1st Assistant); Alicia Robbins, Internet Gangsters (Operator); Gus Sacks, Embalmer (Digital Imaging Technician); and David Stragmeister, Intergalactic Samurai (Operator).

ICG's Emerging Cinematographer Awards gives Local 600 members an opportunity to present themselves as directors of photography by submitting a short film with a running time of 30 minutes or less for consideration. The awards are open to any member of the Guild who is not already classified as a director of photography. The films are selected by a panel of ICG members from across the country and can be also be seen by a wider audience at selected film festivals throughout the year, including Camerimage in Poland.
