Disney's FROZEN continues to set records both here in the U.S. and around the world. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the dubbed version of the Oscar-winning film gave Disney its biggest opening weekend ever in Japan.
The film opened with a three-day take of $9.6 million from 792,636 admissions. That number more than triples that of Warner Bros. release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which earned just a little over $3 million at the beginning of March when it became the first imported film to top the box office in 2014. In this weekend's ranking, The Hobbit came in at Number 5.Released locally as 'Anna to Yuki no Jou' (Anna and the Snow Queen) in a 3D subtitled version and 2D dubbed edition, the Japanese-language version, features Takako Matsu (Confessions) as the voice of Elsa and singer of a re-dubbing of the Oscar-winning song 'Let it Go'.
About Disney's Frozen: Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind "Tangled" and "Wreck-It Ralph," presents "Frozen," a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey--teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven--to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.
Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.
